AffirmLock Terms of Service
Effective Date: February 21, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using AffirmLock (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and AffirmLock (“we,” “our,” or “us”), operated by Edgardo as a sole proprietor.
2. Description of Service
AffirmLock is a mobile application that provides screen time management combined with positive affirmation practices. The App allows you to:
• Select specific apps on your device to lock during scheduled times.
• Unlock locked apps by completing affirmation exercises, such as reading affirmations displayed on screen.
• Receive AI-generated affirmations personalized to your goals, desires, and theme preferences, as well as create your own custom affirmations.
• Track your affirmation streaks and usage progress.
The App is designed to help you build healthier screen time habits through positive self-reinforcement. Affirmations are displayed on screen and the App assumes you read or speak them aloud on your own — no voice detection or microphone access is used.
3. Eligibility
AffirmLock is rated 9+ and is intended for users ages 9 and older. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s consent to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
4. Subscription and Payments
4.1 Subscription Plans
The App offers paid subscription plans, including a weekly plan and an annual plan. The annual plan includes a free 7-day trial period.
4.2 Free Trial
The annual subscription includes a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial period ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription and your payment method will be charged.
4.3 Billing
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis (weekly or annually, depending on your selected plan) through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. By subscribing, you authorize the applicable app store to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to the App’s features until the end of the paid period.
4.5 Refunds
Refund policies are governed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store terms. We do not directly process payments or refunds. Please contact the respective app store for refund requests.
5. User Content
You may create custom affirmations and other content within the App (“User Content”). User Content is stored locally on your device. You retain full ownership of your User Content.
You agree not to create User Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
6. AI-Generated Content
The App uses artificial intelligence (Google Gemini) to generate personalized affirmations based on your goals, desires, and theme preferences. While we strive to provide helpful and positive content:
• AI-generated affirmations are provided for motivational and self-improvement purposes only.
• AI-generated content is not a substitute for professional mental health advice, therapy, or medical treatment.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated content for every individual.
• We reserve the right to modify, filter, or remove AI-generated content at any time.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
• Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with the App’s security features or app-locking functionality.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App.
• Use the App to transmit any viruses, malware, or other harmful code.
• Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt the App’s servers, networks, or backend services.
• Attempt to access the App’s backend API keys or services in an unauthorized manner.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, content, code, graphics, logos, and trademarks, is owned by AffirmLock and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App or its content without our prior written consent. The AffirmLock name and logo are trademarks of AffirmLock and may not be used without permission.
9. Device Permissions
To function properly, the App may require certain device permissions, including:
• Screen Time / Usage Access: To monitor and manage which apps are locked and unlocked according to your schedule.
• Notifications: To send you affirmation reminders and schedule alerts.
The App does not require or use microphone access. You can manage permissions through your device settings at any time. Disabling certain permissions may limit the App’s functionality.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
AffirmLock is a screen time management and motivational tool. It is not a medical device, therapeutic tool, or substitute for professional mental health services. If you are experiencing mental health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, AFFIRMLOCK AND ITS OWNER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AffirmLock and its owner from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in connection with your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
13. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) shall survive.
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device and, if applicable, canceling your subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the federal laws of the United States and, where applicable, the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, unless you opt out of arbitration within 30 days of accepting these Terms by contacting us in writing.
15. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms within the App and updating the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and AffirmLock regarding your use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
