Affirm Lock Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Welcome to AffirmLock (“we,” “our,” or “us”). AffirmLock is a mobile application that combines screen time management with positive affirmation practices, helping you transform your relationship with your devices. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the “App”). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The majority of your data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. This includes:
• Your first name, as provided during onboarding.
• Your personal goals, desires, and affirmation theme preferences.
• Your selected apps to lock, scheduling preferences, and notification settings.
• Custom affirmations you create within the App.
• Streak data and affirmation completion history.
Because this data is stored only on your device, it is not accessible to us and will be deleted if you uninstall the App or clear the App’s data.
2.2 Information Shared with Third-Party Services
• AI affirmation generation: When you request AI-generated affirmations, your goals, desires, and affirmation theme preferences are sent to Google Gemini through our backend server (hosted on Supabase) to generate personalized affirmations. No other personal information (such as your name) is included in these requests.
• Analytics data: We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage analytics, such as how you interact with the App, feature usage, session data, and general device information (device type, operating system version). This data helps us understand how the App is used and improve the experience.
• Subscription data: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect transaction-related data, anonymous device identifiers, and purchase history. Please review RevenueCat’s privacy policy for more information.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
• We do not require or collect email addresses, passwords, or login credentials. The App does not use account-based authentication.
• We do not record or store any audio. The App does not access your microphone. Affirmations are displayed on screen for you to read or speak aloud on your own — no voice detection or verification is used.
• We do not monitor, track, or collect any content or activity within the apps you choose to lock.
• We do not collect your precise geographic location.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
• Generate personalized AI-powered affirmations based on your goals, desires, and theme preferences using Google Gemini.
• Process and manage your subscription through RevenueCat.
• Analyze anonymized usage patterns and trends through PostHog to improve the App’s functionality and user experience.
• Send you push notifications, including affirmation reminders and schedule alerts.
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
• Google Gemini API: To generate AI-powered affirmations. Your goals, desires, and affirmation theme preferences are sent to Google’s servers for this purpose. Please review Google’s privacy policy for more information.
• Supabase: Used as a backend server to securely relay requests to the Google Gemini API. No personal user data is stored on Supabase.
• PostHog: For anonymized product analytics. Please review PostHog’s privacy policy for more information.
• RevenueCat: For subscription management and in-app purchase processing. Please review RevenueCat’s privacy policy for more information.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For app distribution. These platforms may collect additional data as described in their respective privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your personal data (name, goals, desires, preferences, streak data, and custom affirmations) is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain a centralized database of user personal information.
For the limited data that is transmitted to third-party services (affirmation generation requests, analytics, and subscription management), we implement commercially reasonable measures to protect that data in transit, including encryption via HTTPS.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. Data Retention
Since your personal data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over its retention. You can delete your data at any time by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.
Anonymized analytics data collected through PostHog and subscription records managed by RevenueCat are retained in accordance with those services’ respective data retention policies.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Because your personal data is stored locally on your device, you have direct control over it. You may:
• Delete your data: Clear the App’s data through your device settings or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored information.
• Manage notifications: Enable or disable push notifications through your device settings.
• Manage permissions: Control the App’s access to device features (such as Screen Time) through your device settings.
For data held by third-party services (PostHog, RevenueCat), you may exercise your rights under applicable privacy laws by contacting us at the email address provided below, and we will assist you in making requests to those services. Depending on your jurisdiction, your rights may include access, correction, deletion, and data portability.
8. Children’s Privacy
AffirmLock is rated 9+ and is intended for users ages 9 and older. The App does not contain inappropriate content and does not collect personal information beyond what is stored locally on the user’s device.
For users under 13, we do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information in a manner that would violate the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or similar applicable laws. The limited data transmitted to third-party services (affirmation preferences, anonymized analytics) does not include information that personally identifies a child. If you are a parent or guardian and have concerns about your child’s use of the App, please contact us.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
